Proactive International Human Resources Management By Kevan Hawley - Management Today Expatriate management in Africa - not so easy; no room for complacency by Kevan Hawley - HRM Magazine The hidden costs of global ambition - by Amanda Vermeulen - Finance Week Buitelandse aanstellings kan dúúr wees - Financies & Tegniek April 2002
Your Expatriates At a cost of approximately $200 000 in the first year, relocating your expatriates is serious business. Fact: 25- 40 % of all expat contracts fail (where failure is defined as not just returning home but also sitting out the term of the contract unproductively). 80 % of the 40 % can be attributed to issues surrounding the spouse and children. It is essential that the International Human Resources Manager sees to it that the management of the contract is executed professionally and proactively. The impact of a failed expat contract is felt heavily on the bottom line. The goal of the IHRM is to reduce the chance of failure through which ever means possible. |
